BEETROOT VADA: Recipe for a good Teatime Snack?
Synopsis:
Beetroot Vada is a very popular and typical South Indian
Recipe. Beetroot vada is an ideal teatime snack. Beetroot is highly rich in
nutrition and purifies the blood. You can include beetroot in your diet with
various recipes. This is one of the simple and tasty recipes liked by all.
Preparation time: 20 minutes
Cook time: 15 minutes
Serves: 3 persons
Ingredients:
1 cup grated beetroot
½ cup besan (gram flour)
¼ cup maids
1 onion, chopped
2 finely cut green chillies
6 curry leaves
1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
1 teaspoon Red chili powder
Salt to taste
Cooking Oil for deep-frying
1 teaspoon chopped coriander
Preparation Method:
Step-01:
Squeeze out excess water from grated beetroot.
Meanwhile, heat oil for deep-frying in a pan.
Step-02:
Take beetroot, besan, maida, onions, green
chillies, ginger-garlic paste, red chilli powder, 1 tsp hot oil, salt,
coriander and chopped curry leaves in a mixing bowl.
Step-03:
Mix well without adding water (moisture in the
beetroot is sufficient).
Step-04:
Add very little water if necessary.
Step-05:
Make lemon-sized balls and flatten them between
your palms.
Step-06:
Deep-fry in hot oil till golden brown. Serve hot
with sauce.
