Chicken Kheema Potato Chop / चिकन खीमा बटाटा चॉप

Synopsis:

Chicken keema potato chop can be made with any meat you prefer - chicken, lamb, pork, goat meat, or any combination such as minced pork. The dish is extremely versatile and simply changing the ingredients in the masala (the spice and onion mixture) can result in a great new taste each time. Serve as appetizer/side dish in any combination.

Ingredients:

For the minced meat

½ Teaspoon
Cardamom Powder / इलायची पाउडर
½ Teaspoon
Chilli powder / मिर्च पाउडर
½ Teaspoon
Cinnamon Powder / दालचीनी पाउडर
2 Tablespoon
Cooking oil / खाना पकाने का तेल
½ Cup
Coriander leaves chopped / धनिया पत्ती कटी हुई
½ Teaspoon
Cumin Powder / जीरा पाउडर
¼ Cup
Curry leaves / करी पत्ते
1 Tablespoon
Garlic Paste / लहसून का पेस्ट
½ Tablespoon
Ginger Paste / अदरक का पेस्ट
2 Tablespoon
Green Chillies finely chopped / हरी मिर्च बारीक कटी हुई
½ Kg
Minced meat Chicken / कीमा बनाया हुआ चिकन
½ Cup
Mint leaves chopped / पुदीना कटा हुआ
1 cup
Onions finely chopped / प्याज बारीक कटा हुआ
½ Teaspoon
Pepper Powder / काली मिर्च पाउडर
½ Teaspoon
Salt / नमक
1 Cup
Tomatoes finely chopped / टमाटर बारीक कटा हुआ
½ Teaspoon
Turmeric powder / हल्दी पाउडर
2 Tablespoon
Vinegar / Lemon juice / सिरका / नींबू का रस

For the Mashed Potatoes

½ Teaspoon
Garam masala / गरम मसाला
1 Kg
Potatoes old / आलू पुराना
1 Teaspoon
Salt / नमक
1 Teaspoon
Sugar / चीनी

For the Pattice Coating

½ Cup
All-purpose Flour / बहु - उद्देश्यीय आटा
1 Cup
Breadcrumbs / डबल रोटी का चूरा
½ Cup
Cooking oil for shallow frying / उथले तलने के लिए खाना पकाने का तेल

Egg / अंडा


Preparation Method:

Step-01:

Boil the potatoes until fork tender and after cooling it in running water, peel and mash the potatoes to a soft and lump-free paste.

Step-02:

Add salt, sugar and garam masala mix it well. The mashed potato mix for pattice covering is ready. Keep it in refrigeration for 1 hour.

Step-03:

Add cooking oil to a wide pan and preheat it and once the oil is heated add onions, ginger paste, garlic paste, green chillies, curry leaves, and saute it until the onions turn golden brown.

Step-04:

Add minced chicken (keema) and cook for 7 minutes.

Step-05:

Add tomatoes and cook until the water is evaporated.

Step-06:

Add cardamom powder, chilli powder, cinnamon powder, cumin powder, pepper powder, and turmeric powder and stir to mix well.

Step-07:

Add vinegar/lemon juice, coriander leaves, mint leaves, salt and mix well. The minced chicken (keema) mix is ready. After it cools down at room temperature, keep it in refrigeration for 1 hour.

Step-08:

Once the refrigeration period of mashed potato mix and minced chicken (keema) mix is completed. Take a laddu size mashed potato mix in the palm of your hand and spread it into a thin layer making a small crater in the middle.

Step-9:

Then place 1 ½ tablespoon of minced chicken (keema) mix and place it in the crater, make a pattice by folding/guiding the mashed potato mix from the sides. Make sure the chicken keema mix is covered/sandwiched with mashed potato mix from all the sides.

Step-10:

Continue with the making of the patties until all the mashed potato mix is used up.

Step-11:

The patties are ready, these can be kept under refrigeration and can be used as per requirement in the next 2-3 days.

Step-12:

Take the egg and beat it well in a wide enough container to dip the pattice.

Step-13:

Take required number of pattice, coat the pattice in all-purpose flour, and then dip it in beaten egg and finally coat it with bread crumbs.

Step-14:

Shallow fry the pattice on medium flame until the pattice is golden brown from all sides.

Step-15:

Place the fried patties on butter paper/paper napkins to soak the excess oil.

Step-16:

The chicken keema potato chops are ready, and once the excess oil is soaked,  place the fried chops on a plate and serve with chilli/tomato sauce.


Suggestion:

·      Always prepare the mashed potato mix and minced chicken (keema) mix ahead of the cooking time and refrigerate them for at least 1 hour.
·      Refrigerating helps to firm the potato mix and absorb all its’ own moisture from mashed potato and minced chicken (keema) mix.
