The Ultimate Recipe to CRISPY MURUKKU A TEATIME SNACK
Synopsis:
Murukku, It is a delicious and crunchy tea time snack. The snack's name is derived from the Tamil
word for "twisted", which refers to its shape. In India, Murukku is a
festival savory, very popular in the states of Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka,
and Andhra Pradesh.
Ingredients:
Rice
Flour 1 cup
Chickpeas
splitted 2 tablespoon
Urad
flour 1/4 cup
Sesame
seeds 1 teaspoon
Butter
2 tablespoon
Asafoetida
1/4 teaspoon
Red
chilli powder 2 teaspoon
Curry
leaves chopped 4-6
Water
as needed
Salt
to taste
Preparation
Method:
Step-01:
Roast
the rice flour and urad flour separately for 2 minutes each and make sure they
are just warm, dry, and not burnt.
Step-02:
Now,
grind the chickpeas and make it to a smooth powder and add two tablespoons of
water, then the salt and asafoetida. Mix all and keep it aside.
Step-03:
In
a separate pan, fry sesame seeds till it sputters and then remove and keep it
aside.
Step-04:
Take
a big vessel or wide pan and mix all the flours, butter, asafoetida, sesame
seeds, salt mixture, and cumin seeds. Now, add water to knead it little by
little into a tight dough.
Step-05:
Now
take a small amount of dough and put it into a murukku maker/mould and close
the maker.
Step-06:
Start
pressing the maker slowly and rotate the maker into a circle shape. Make some
circles and put it on an oil traced plantain leaf.
Step-07:
Next,
heat oil to deep fry in a wide pan and put murukku gently one by one. Fry it
till it turns brown and then take it out.
Step-08:
After
it is cool, store it in an airtight container.
